The water snaffle is a standard jawpiece. This jawpiece has loose rings which allows the bit to move more freely in the mouth making this bit well accepted by many horses. To prevent sheets from getting between the moving rings, it is recommended that the bit be fitted with bit rings. Large rings have a more indirect action than smaller rings. The large rings provide greater pressure distribution on the cheeks. This makes a horse easier to maneuver and a bit cannot be pulled through the mouth as easily. In addition, a slight leverage can be obtained with these large rings.
The Inno sense mullen is a straight rod that bends slightly forward. This mouthpiece is made of plastic. It has a rigid core that makes the mullen rod non-flexible, but soft to the touch. The plastic used is FDA approved, which means the material is non-toxic and contains no plasticizers.
