A 3-ring snaffle also called a pessoa bit is a bit with leverage. The lower the reins are placed the tighter the bit becomes. An ideal bit for horses that are very strong in the trail, grab the bit or run through the hand.
The single-jointed bit has one pivot point which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-broken mouthpiece acts primarily on the layers, the side of the tongue and can also act in the palate. A single-broken mouthpiece is considered a standard mouthpiece.
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel and have a recognizable blue color. Sweet Iron develops surface rust through contact with (air) moisture that tastes sweet and naturally stimulates the horse's salivation. This will cause the horse to foam more, which improves acceptance of the bit. This rusting process (oxidation) changes the blue color of TRUST bits to brownish gray.
